Join us on Saturday, June 6, from 12–1 PM in the Pine Grove at Barnsdall Art Park for a conversation with artists Ivan Bridges and Rachel Bridges, moderated by curator Nancy Meyer. Following the talk, we invite you to bring a lunch and blanket and stay for an informal gathering in the park.
Ivan Bridges (b. 1984, Portland, OR) presents a body of work that explores the psychological resonance of concealed memory. Working in watercolor and oil on paper and raw canvas, he draws from found imagery—cult cinema, fetish culture, and vintage photography—translating internal drives into spare, expressive gestures.
In her solo exhibition I’m Not Your Filipina, Rachel Bridges (b. 1982, San Francisco; based in Los Angeles) engages historical narratives of struggle and resistance through large-scale figurative painting. A first-generation Filipino American artist, Bridges draws on familial histories and ancestral spirituality to examine the emotional and cultural reverberations of colonialism across the Filipino diaspora.
