In this program, contemporary art historian J.V. Decemvirale and artist and C.O.L.A. 2021 Visual Art Fellow Ruben Ochoa led an hour-long conversation discussing, Las Tortillas (2021), Ochoa’s most recent commission for the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. For the duration of the exhibition, Las Tortillas was exhibited in another of Ochoa’s artworks, CLASS: C, the legendary Chevy van with a mobile gallery in the back which served Southern California from 2001-2005. The event began with a brief history of mobile art projects in Los Angeles and move into a deep dive into the centrality of these projects in Ochoa’s career and life.
This program was organized by Jamie Costa.
