LAMAG is pleased to share the COLA IMAP 2026 cohort website. The website introduces the 2026 COLA IMAP artists across the Visual, Literary, and Performing Arts disciplines, offering an overview of each artist’s practice through a gallery of their projects, exhibition & performance history, and highlights of their COLA IMAP project. The 2026 Literary Artists are Michelle Bitting, Juliette Jones, DaEun Jung, Rogê, Brian Sonia-Wallace, and Maylee Todd.The 2026 Visual Artists are Audrey Chan, Gelare Khoshgozaran, Sandra Low, Heather Rasmussen, and Sarah Rosalena.
As a preview of next year’s exhibition, the website highlights the five Visual Artists who will be presented at the LAMAG as part of a combined exhibition featuring the 2026 and 2027 COLA IMAP Visual Artists cohorts, opening next summer. The City of Los Angeles Independent Master Artists Project (COLA IMAP) has played a vital role in the city’s cultural landscape since 1997. Administered by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), COLA IMAP provides mid-career Los Angeles artists with dedicated time to develop their creative practice, funding to realize ambitious new work, and a platform to share their vision with audiences across the city.
The City of Los Angeles Independent Master Artists Projects (COLA IMAP) has profoundly impacted the city’s cultural and creative sectors since 1997. A highly regarded annual program of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), COLA IMAP provides local, mid-career artists with crucial resources: dedicated time to focus on their creative practice, funding for the creation of new bodies of work, and a platform to deliver their vision to a public audience in Los Angeles.
Our presenting partner, Grand Performances, will premiere new work in the literary and performing arts by COLA IMAP artists Michelle Bitting, Juliette Jones, DaEun Jung, Rogê, Brian Sonia-Wallace, and Maylee Todd on June 19 and 26, 2026, in Downtown Los Angeles. Videos from the live showcases will be included in this digital presentation when they become available. In addition, all of the 2026 COLA IMAP artists are represented in a catalog, designed by Louise Sandhaus and Kat Catmur, alongside essays detailing their importance and impact.
Representing a broad array of artistic disciplines, the eleven artists of the 2026 COLA IMAP cadre collectively demonstrate the vitality of the Los Angeles creative community, exploring complex themes of identity, social justice, mental health, and cultural heritage through innovative and interdisciplinary practices.
